Something hopeful, in case you don't know about it. Your journalism friends will like it, too. When the administration said the IU Daily Student couldn't print the homecoming week edition, Purdue students printed copies on the printing press there and brought them to IU. That made me happy. Generally, though, not a very hopeful time for sure.
Most arrests and encampment dismantling handled by Indiana State Police (ISP) and IU Police (IUPD) under controversial new policies, though Bloomington Police made some arrests, primarily for trespassing and resisting, as protesters defied warnings to remove tents in Dunn Meadow, leading to clashes and later dropped charges. State Police were in the trailer.
I went to IU for my MFA in poetry in the 1990s. A much different time and the shortsighted losers trying to ruin it will fail. One way or another they will. I just hope they don’t pull down the entire university with them.
Important post, Barb. Thank you. I am not a Hoosier, but one of my sons is. I have lots of Hoosier friends too, a couple who majored in journalism and were appalled by the recent attempt to shut down the school newspaper. I’m not sure I can watch the documentary you describe here. I’m frankly having difficulty keeping informed and managing to hold onto hope. I’m with you. Again, thanks. Mary
I remember being happily holed up in my little Freelance Nation office, writing away. I loved that place.
Here's hoping your right. It sure is a shit show right now.

Thanks for this, Barb. I remember when you were working on that book...

Are those local cops in the trailer or campus police?
